CALL TO ACTION

Every week, I will share with you a ‘Call To Action’ around our school goals that will help drive our work for that week.

HSFI ‘CARED FOR’ GOAL – RELATIONSHIPS & REALNESS

THEY DON’T CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW UNLESS THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE

Just reminding you of one of my favorite quotes from Pat Summit who coached the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team and is the all-time winningest basketball coach in history.  It sums up why it is so important why we need to invest so much time in showing the ‘Care’ part of being educators.

HSFI ‘CHALLENGED’ GOAL – RIGOR & RELEVANCE

USE FASHION DOLLARS TO REINFORCE THE ACADEMIC BEHAVIORS YOU WANT

Please continue to distribute Fashion Dollars online or with tokens to reinforce any positive academic behavior that you wish to focus on.  We have invested a lot of funds into rewards for students, so they are in demand - use this to your advantage as you try to challenge your students.

CALL TO ACTION

Every week, I will share with you a ‘Call To Action’ around our school goals that will help drive our work for that week.

HSFI ‘CARED FOR’ GOAL – RELATIONSHIPS & REALNESS

USE YOUR PARENT-TEACHER CONVERSATIONS TO HELP BUILD MOMENTUM

Please use the conversations you had with students’ families to communicate with students a united front of support for them.  Students knowing that you and their families are on the same page can be a powerful tool in improving student performance regardless of whether the student is at-risk or high performing.

SAT / PSAT DAY DETAILS

REPORTING TIME FOR WORK

Report time for teachers, counselors, and social workers will be 8:30 am.

All other staff should report their normal time.

GRADE LEVEL PLANS

This Thursday is SAT / PSAT Day that involves a special schedule depending on a student’s grade level.

10TH & 11TH GRADERS

10th & 11th graders should arrive at school on Wednesday at 8:15 am - 10th graders will be taking the PSAT exam and 11th graders will be taking the SAT exam.  Both 10th and 11th graders should have received an exam ticket that lists which classroom they should report to.  If a student does not know his/her classroom, there will be a room listing posted in the school lobby.  10th and 11th graders need to bring their school ID card, at least two #2 pencils, and their exam invitation.  Graphing calculators will be provided to 11th graders taking the SAT.  10th graders should bring a graphing calculator to the exam - the school will have some calculators available to students if they do not have one.  Students are not permitted to have any electronic devices with them during this examination regardless of whether they are turned off or not.  The exams should finish around 12:30 pm where students will be dismissed from school and lunch will be available to them.

12TH GRADERS

12th graders should arrive at school on Wednesday at 9:00 am - 12th graders will be going to their major classroom where they will have studio time with their teachers to work on their senior projects.  12th graders will be dismissed from school around Noon and lunch will be available to them.

9TH GRADERS

9th graders should arrive at school on Wednesday at 9:00 am - we have a special Freshman Social organized for 9th graders who will be hanging out with each other in a mini-carnival setting where they can paint, bleach tie-dye t-shirts, play video games, get henna tattoos, do origami, draw, write, play basketball, volleyball or badminton as well as having access to a photobooth, popcorn and cotton candy.  9th graders will be dismissed from school around 11:30 am and lunch will be available to them.

ROOMS USED FOR WEDNESDAY MARCH 23RD SAT/PSAT DAY

Below is the list of rooms that will be used for the SAT/PSAT day.   Please review and make sure before you leave school on Tuesday that your room is in exam ready condition.   Desks are in rooms and all academic material that could be used on the test is either covered or taken down.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION CEREMONY THIS FRIDAY

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FASHION DOLLAR TOKENS NOW AVAILABLE IN ROOM 123 (FLY STORE) & 819

For those of you that prefer giving out Fashion Dollar tokens as opposed to depositing Fashion Dollars online, we are now making the FD tokens available in Room 123 (FLY Store) along with Room 819.  The extra location is for convenience and the reality no one ever likes to go to the Principal’s Office :)

The FLY Store is open in the mornings and during the lunch periods, so you can grab FDs when you come into school or when you are coming back into the building if you went out to lunch.

Please continue to distribute Fashion Dollars online or with tokens to reinforce any positive behavior that you wish to focus on.  We have invested a lot of funds into rewards for students, so they need you to give out Fashion Dollars to receive them.  Thank you!
