Thank you for contributing to the smooth opening of the
school. Thank you for helping establish
our school’s commitment to Safety; Ownership; Achievement; Respect; and
Responsibility. SOARRing towards college
and career readiness is what the High School of Fashion Industries is all about. I know a lot was covered the first week, but here is 1 thing you can do in each of areas of focus:□ Create a Positive Environment = Distribute Fashion Dollars for Positive Behavior
□ Support Struggling Students = Submit 'Student At Risk' online referrals during Parent Engagement Time
□ Promote a Growth Mindset = Use Language that Rewards Effort, Persistence & Belief That Mistakes Are an Opportunity for Learning
□ Challenge Every Student Academically = Use Complex Text with a Content Objective and Skill Objective in Every Lesson
□ Help Students Navigate the College Application Process = Make Sure You Have Your College T-shirt Ready for October 9
□ Promote Health & Safety = Review Emergency Readiness Protocols to Be Ready
□ Smooth Operation of HSFI = No Passes the First & Last 10 Minutes of the Class Period

#4 - INTEREST IN RUNNING A STUDENT CLUB / ACTIVITY
Please email me directly (dblank@schools.nyc.gov) if you are interested in supervising a club, activity or team AND you did not get a chance to attend the opening day meeting where we went over the requirements for supervising these activities. You will NOT be allowed to supervise such an activity without an understanding of these requirements.

Our analysis of these work folders will be crucial to understanding where our students’ stand with respect to the Common Core standards. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

(1) Check your NYC Department of Education Emails Once a Day - a HSFI parent might be trying to get in touch with you
(2) Keep your 3rd Period Classes Quiet During Announcements - great things are happening at HSFI and we want our students to know about it - please make sure students are paying attention
