NEW TO THE WEEKLY
BULLETIN…THE ANSWER IS IN THE ROOM
Each week, Mr. Kearns and Ms. Paz will work with
colleagues from all over the building to share out instructional best practices
with one another. Each week will focus
on a different instructional topic connected to our Problem of Practice.
Here are some highlights of the best practices shared after the
last round of intervisitations; all are focused on STUDENTS WORKING COLLABORATIVELY.
In the Science Department, Ms. Pinto created a group checklist to facilitate the creation of a Power Point presentation about plate tectonics.
In the Science Department, Ms. Pinto created a group checklist to facilitate the creation of a Power Point presentation about plate tectonics.
In the Math Department, Ms. Magner and Ms. Schlein created a
station activity where students worked collaboratively to review for an
upcoming exam.
In the English Department, Ms. Bailey created basic guidelines for
strong group work in her 9th grade classes.
In the Fashion Design department, Ms. David shared that she has less than a class
set of machines. As some students were unable to use the machinery, Ms. David
had other students working on a Google slideshow assignment (the reference
pages with images and steps for each of the different seams). This allowed for
all students to be engaged in a task at the same time.
In case you missed it last week...
Bonus Video: Mr. Stampone created a video on how to upload a
PBIS spreadsheet to Jupiter Grades.

CALL TO ACTION
● HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WITH YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS
It
is inspirational to see how much you give of yourselves for your students – I
hope you have a wonderful holiday with your families!
● PARTY TIME!
Over
80 staff members have signed up for the Holiday Party – our school spirit is
alive and well!
● LET STUDENTS LISTEN TO 3RD PERIOD ANNOUNCEMENTS
When
you speak to students they often complain about not being able to hear morning
announcements – they say either students are talking or teachers are teaching
through the announcements – do not let this take place. Third period is longer to make up for time
for these announcements. We are great
opportunities available for students, but if they do not hear them, they cannot
be part of them.
● STUDENTS WANT FASHION DOLLARS – FEEL THEY ARE NOT BEING GIVEN OUT
Here is how you can give Fashion
Dollars through FashionSoarrs.com:
#1 – Log onto our Staff Homepage
- https://sites.google.com/a/hsfi.us/hsfi-staff-portal/?pli=1
#2 – Go to
FashionSoarrs.com – one of the tabs on the top of the page
You can give Fashion
Dollars in three different ways.
(1) Deposit Points By Period (default when you log in): Give fashion dollars by class period
(2) Bonus Deposits: Give
fashion dollars by 9 Digit #
(3) Upload Point Deposit File:
Give fashion dollars by uploading a CSV file
Mr. Egan created two
short self-help videos available for staff:

● MESSAGE FROM THE GRAPHICS &
ILLUSTRATION DEPT. – ADOBE EXAMS BEING ADMINISTERED
The CTE department has begun administering the Adobe
Photoshop certification exam to all Senior Graphics & Illustration
students. The exam runs longer than 45
minutes unfortunately. We will be giving this exam weekly on Thursdays until
most of the students in the Advanced Digital Photography class have been given
a chance to pass the certification. Students will be given a late pass to 5th
or 8th period if they have taken the exam the period prior. Thanks for your understanding, please allow
the student to make up any missing work.
● COLLEGE RECOMMENDATION DEADLINE
INFORMATION
There are many colleges that have December 1st deadlines. Please make sure if you are writing a
recommendation for a student who has a deadline of December 1st, that you
submit all documents necessary (recommendations, common app teacher evaluation)
no later than November 28th. This will
allow the counselors to send off all documents by December 1st.
● HEAT SURVEY
With the cold weather approaches,
we want to know the status of the heat in your room – take 1 minute to complete
this survey:
