Fashion News

HSFI Staff please encourage and remind students to log on to GetSchooled.com and work on the college activities.  We want to defend our title and win a celebrity visit to HSFI - last year was Nick Cannon and Ne-Yo - maybe this year could be .....

This is a national competition against the entire country - we were in 12th place in the nation as of last week - that is not good enough - if you do something, you want to win it!!!

Our score is also based on our seniors completing their Financial Aid forms (FAFSA) - Seniors make sure you hold up your end of the competition!!!

Huffington Post Bubble Wrap Contest

In celebration of Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, the students of the High School of Fashion Industries teamed up with the Huffington Post to create outfits made of bubble wrap. This unconventional design challenge allowed students to explore their creative side in a race against time to create garments in a matter of two days. Best of all, the garments were featured in the Huffington Post and consisted of 80% bubble wrap and needed to be 100% fabulous. The students had a blast creating jackets, skirts, dresses and even harem pants. Ultimately, the winner of the Bubble Wrap Contest Deannyls Corcino took home the crown with an ensemble featuring a full skirt and sleeveless raincoat that was complete with a hood and trimmed with silver iridescent tape and 250 jumbo safety pins. In second place, Marcel Kosmider created two signature looks and Aileen Mendez took home the third place prize. Under the direction of Fashion with a Purpose and opportunities such as these, students are able to promote social awareness and inspire change in the Fashion Industry!
