PBIS CALL TO ACTION
COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE CELEBRATION
Many of our seniors will be celebrating their college acceptances by wearing their school’s t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. on Monday, May 2.  All staff is encouraged to wear their college gear to celebrate with our seniors.

DOWN THE HOMESTRETCH…
We are officially in the homestretch with 6 weeks of classes left before Regents examinations.  Make sure your students know this and appreciate the importance of finishing the school year strong.  Tie this strong finish to college and summer school.  Students must understand the grades that they receive in June will be the ones that colleges will see and ultimately determine whether or not they are scheduled for summer school or not.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION
Join your colleagues for an end of year celebration on Thursday, June 9 at 4pm.  Please contact Ms. Ianniello in Room 819 / extension 8191 to let her know you will be coming – we need to give them a head count.

MAINTAINING SCHOOL TONE
As we enter the home stretch of the school year, it is critical that we need to be UNIFIED as a staff in enforcing our school rules to maintain our school tone.  Please be consistent and model the correct behaviors our students need in order to SOARR to college and career readiness.
NO FOOD IN CLASSROOMS – students can only eat in the student cafeteria & the student lounge - no food should in classrooms before, during or after school – no staff or students should be eating in any computer lab
DRESS CODE – every week there are zero dress code infractions which is certainly not reality– nobody is reporting these infractions via Jupiter Grades – please make these referrals, so we can follow up with these students and help set the proper tone and attire here at HSFI
PROPER USE OF HALL / HEALTH CENTER PASSES – students can only leave the classroom with a pass / students going to the Falcon Health Center must use that specific pass
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT POLICY - electronic equipment are only allowed to be used in classrooms for instructional purposes – students must not be allowed to take out their phones during class and do not let students charge this equipment in your classrooms
ELEVATORS – students are not allowed on staff elevators unless they have their own elevator card / ask students to show their elevator passes when they are in those elevators

COOL THINGS GOING ON @ HSFI
HSFI Students SOARR in the Classroom
For Marking period two, 552 students (31.6 % of the entire HSFI population) made the honor roll (85-91.99 grade point average) and 420 students (24 % of the entire HSFI population) made the high honor roll (92-100 grade point average) – in total, over 55.6 % of our students had over an 85 average…Most Impressive!

OPERATIONAL NEED TO KNOW
Office Moves

The Attendance office is now in Room 134 (to the left when you walk in – on the way to the student elevators across from Ms. Bernstein’s office)

STAFF MEMBERS WHO SOARR

Thank you to MS. COLLINS & MR. RUSSELL for running our photography program that culminated in our International Center of Photography event.  Room 821 is now decorated with our amazing student photographs – please visit the Principal’s conference room to check it out and enjoy!

Thank you to MS. VACCARO for preparing our Virtual Enterprise fashion marketing students for the trade show that they participated in before we went on vacation.  Our students presenting ‘FLY’ won an award for their sales presentation.

As our seniors are receiving their acceptances and rejections, thank you to MS. McKEON for coordinating all of our college efforts.  She is already working on next year’s efforts by interviewing our prospective Youth Leaders.

Thank you to MS. FECSKO, MS. DRABMAN, MS. BOHNER & MS. THOMAS for administering the NYSESLAT exam to our English Language Learners.  This is a multi-week process!

Thank you to MS. McGOLDRICK for organizing a presentation for the English department on Costa's Level of Questioning.  This presentation has inspired many teachers in the department to give students the tools to create their own higher-order questions.

Thank you to the efforts of a number of Science department members - MR. HURLEY for covering afterschool SOARR Academy for a colleague; MS. MARTINEZ for her work in collecting data from focus group target students to help plan for next school year; and MR. RAPPA for his work with make-up labs.

Thank you to all the staff at the Falcon Health Center, notably MS. MUSGRAVE & MS. LANGKNECHT, for organizing and executing an amazing Health Fair!
