THANK YOU!!!
Thank you to all of you who helped make SING so well attended!  Thank you for hanging up the flyers, marketing the show, keeping your third period class quiet during my daily SING announcements, excusing the cast and crew from class the day before the show and most of all, offering extra credit for attending the show.
Thank you to all of you who took the time to attend the show and in many instances, dragging family members and friends to the performance.
This past Friday and Saturday nights were memorable nights for our school community.  We came together – staff, students, families – to establish HSFI SING.  We plan to make HSFI SING an annual event (our plan is a Fall event as to not conflict with our CTE showcases).
Seeing the smiles on the cast and crew’s faces as they looked into the auditorium filled with so many people meant so much – it created a moment that will stay with them for the rest of their lives!
Thank you for getting them in the audience – we will now build on the momentum that these spectacular performances generated among our students.

THE STUDENT SHOWCASES CONTINUE…..THIS WEEK: INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY OPENING (FASHION SHOW & ART SHOW COMING)
Our student work showcases continue on Wednesday with the opening of our photography exhibition in partnership with the International Center of Photography.  The event will be this Wednesday, April 20, at 3:30 pm in Room 821 (Principal’s Conference Room).  HSFI and the International Center of Photography have developed a tremendous relationship over the past decade.  This celebration showcases the photos taken by our students in this program.  It would be great for you to attend to look at the photos, hear our students speak about how photography allows them to express who they are, and support your colleagues who run this program – Ms. Collins and Mr. Russell!

Next up…Senior Art Show Opening on Friday, May 6 & our Annual Fashion Show on Friday, May 13 (Public Show), Saturday, May 14 (Public Show) and Wednesday, May 18 (Industry Show)

SAVE THE DATE – OUR END OF YEAR PARTY WILL BE JUNE 9

PBIS CALL TO ACTION
NEW MARKING PERIOD / NEW STUDENT REFERRRALS
With the beginning of the third marking period, the cycle of referrals starts fresh.  As a reminder, here is the order for this process:
#1 - At-Risk Referral form
#2 - If the issues persist within a given marking period, fill out a Guidance Referral

MAINTAINING SCHOOL TONE
As we enter the home stretch of the school year, it is critical that we need to be UNIFIED as a staff in enforcing our school rules to maintain our school tone.  Please be consistent and model the correct behaviors our students need in order to SOARR to college and career readiness.
NO FOOD IN CLASSROOMS – students can only eat in the student cafeteria & the student lounge - no food should in classrooms before, during or after school – no staff or students should be eating in any computer lab
DRESS CODE – every week there are zero dress code infractions which is certainly not reality– nobody is reporting these infractions via Jupiter Grades – please make these referrals, so we can follow up with these students and help set the proper tone and attire here at HSFI
PROPER USE OF HALL / HEALTH CENTER PASSES – students can only leave the classroom with a pass / students going to the Falcon Health Center must use that specific pass
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT POLICY - electronic equipment are only allowed to be used in classrooms for instructional purposes – students must not be allowed to take out their phones during class and do not let students charge this equipment in your classrooms
ELEVATORS – students are not allowed on staff elevators unless they have their own elevator card / ask students to show their elevator passes when they are in those elevators

COOL THINGS GOING ON @ HSFI
THIS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20 IS GOING TO BE AN EXCITING DAY AT HSFI
On this day, HSFI will be rockin’ – our Health Fair in coordination with the Falcon Health Center will be taking place; our annual Blood Drive is going on; and the opening of our Photography exhibit that is in partnership with the International Center of Photography will lift off after school in Room 819.

GIRLS WRESTLING TEAM DEFEATS THE DEFENDING CITY CHAMPIONS
This past week our girls wrestling led by Mr. Mendez defeated Curtis HS who are the defending City Champs – a most impressive accomplishment.  Mr. Mendez has built this team from scratch and is now a force to be reckoned with city-wide.

STUNTS TEAM WIN STREAK CONTINUES

Another week, another win for our Stunts team led by Ms. Pinto.  We defeated Health Opportunities for Social Justice by a score of 16-4.

MESSAGE TO HSFI STAFF FROM HSFI CLASS OF 2016
HELP NEEDED FOR SENIOR CLASS FUNDRAISER
Dear Teachers,

The Senior Class with the assistance of the PTA is in need of cookies, cupcakes, brownies, bars, pies, cakes, breads, muffins. They do not need to be priced out but if you could package them up in small Ziploc bags, or wrap larger items for us that would be extremely helpful! The profits from the bake sale will help offset this year’s prom expenses.

The bake sale will be on Friday April 22, 2016 in the Student Lounge.  All donations will be accepted on Thursday or Friday morning.

Thank you for your support!
Senior Class of 2016
