CALL
TO ACTION
● ENJOY THE MEDIA COVERAGE OF OUR SHOWCASES
This past week HSFI received amazing
media coverage with showcases on MSNBC, NY1, the New York Post and WNYC.
First, we were on MSNBC (Stephanie Ruhle Show) which showcased our
GLAM4GOOD event where some big names in the fashion and media industries spoke
to our senior students about what was needed to be successful while also giving
back to the community around them.
http://www.msnbc.com/stephanie-ruhle/watch/glam4good-treats-students-to-shopping-spree-1250339907859
NY1 Spectrum News covered our
Kleinfeld Bridal showcase where a group of 11th graders competed to
win through our partnership with the famous ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ store.
Next is some coverage about our
Anti-Prom team that was instrumental in creating a safe space for students who
do not feel comfortable in the traditional ‘Prom’ space – first is an article from
the NY Post and then a radio spot from WNYC with a brief write-up.
All of the website links to the
media coverage is located in one article on the HSFI website in the ‘Fashion
News’ section – hope you ENJOY!
● GRADES DUE TUESDAY, JUNE 12
If you are a teacher, please input
your grades into STARS Classroom by 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 12.
● BE AN ACTIVE PROCTOR FOR THESE HIGH STAKES REGENTS EXAMS
It is critical that
everyone be ACTIVE proctors during the testing period – we need to maintain the
integrity of these exams and in some instances, how we proctor can be the
difference between students passing and failing these exams.
Here are some important
reminders as we approach this high stakes testing period:
□ All Proctors,
including reserves, must report to room 202 to check in & return to 201 until
the end of their assignment
□ Classroom and Hallway
proctors must actively proctor at all times.
□ Proctors may not
use electronic devices unless there is an emergency.
● DISPLAY PROFESSIONAL IN EXECUTING YOUR PROCTORING ASSIGNMENTS
Be courteous towards your
colleagues when executing your proctoring assignments – this includes showing
up on time to your relief assignments, coming back to your testing room when on
break in a timely manner and following hand off instructions when taking over a
testing room.

WEEK IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Regents Week will take place Tuesday, June 12th through
Thursday June 22nd.
ACTIVE TESTING PROCTORING
It is critical that everyone be ACTIVE proctors during the testing
period – follow the proctoring checklist step by step to insure that all New
York City and State testing regulations are followed. Be sure to:
#1 – Make sure you speak to students individually as they enter
the testing room to put away any electronic equipment in their lockers if they
still have possession of them
#2 – Make sure you are walking around the classroom during the
exam and look out for students correcting filling out the answer sheets to make
sure they do not omit questions or double bubble
#3 – Call up students one by one when they want to hand in their
examinations and thoroughly examine their answer sheets and essay booklets to
make sure the exams are properly completed
ROOM READINESS
Classrooms must be made "Exam Ready" no later than 3:45 on
Monday June 11th. This involves:
(1) Removing or covering
any information on the walls, or board which students should not see during
their exam.
(2) Desks and chairs
should be arranged neatly in evenly spaced rows.
(3) Books should be
removed from under chairs.
(4) The teacher’s desk
must be clear and free from clutter so that the proctor may spread our
materials.

● KEEPING TRACK OF STUDENT ACTIVITY / COMMUNICATING WITH STUDENTS
ABOUT SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

students are doing, we need to know how much students are participating in
activities around the building – this includes:
TUTORING / CLUBS & ACTIVITIES / PSAL SPORTS
– PRACTICES & GAMES / ESL ACADEMY
MAKE-UP LABS / NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY PEER
TUTORING / USING THE COMPUTER LABS
Use this link to keep track of student
attendance in these activities - https://sites.google.com/a/hsfi.us/hsfi-staff-portal/attendance-for-student-activities
Doing this is mandatory if you oversee these activities and
needs to be done every time you meet with students. You must be signed in
to your own hsfi.us account when you do this. Contact Shannon Kohm with
questions at skohm@school.nyc.gov, or ext. 5311
Communication
Please make sure that you communicate with our
students about anything going on in the school – a club meeting, sports game or
program opportunity – you can do this by including it in our Daily
Announcements email / Jupiter message – here is the procedure for submitting
this information:
(1) Go to the HSFI Staff Home page - https://sites.google.com/a/hsfi.us/hsfi-staff-portal/home?pli=1
(2) From there use the Announcement
form link on the left hand side of the page - all announcements should be
