SCHOOL CALENDAR:
CALL TO ACTION
Every week, I will share with you a ‘Call To Action’ around our school goals that will help drive our work for that week.
HSFI ‘CARED FOR’ GOAL – RELATIONSHIPS & REALNESS
GET TO KNOW YOUR STUDENTS
There is no better way to show your care for students than to know their name, pronounce their name correctly and know what pronoun that they identify with. No matter what role you serve in the school, please make this a top priority.
HSFI ‘CHALLENGED’ GOAL – RIGOR & RELEVANCE
IMPORTANCE OF STUDENT CHOICE & LEADERSHIP
Students are engaged best when they have a voice in their learning and put in positions of leadership. No matter what role you serve in the school, please keep this in mind as you interact with our young people.
IMPORTANT BLUE ATTENDANCE SHEET DEADLINE
Please make sure blue attendance sheets are turned in before 11 am.
Blue sheets can be submitted to the following locations: Room 819 - Outside of the Principal's Office, Room 501- Outside of the Library, or the Main Office - Room 125.

OUR TOOLS TO COMBAT COVID-19
We have the tools to combat COVID at HSFI - we all need to be on the same page and execute these tools:
□ Stay home if you do not feel well
□ Health Screening Tool - https://healthscreening.schools.nyc/ - fill it out before entering the building each day
□ Masks - if you are in the building, you need to be wearing a mask
□ Physical distancing between students when possible
□ Promoting Vaccination - a vaccine clinic will be in the building all this week
□ Random COVID testing - our first scheduled testing date is this week on September 21
□ Students and staff showing COVID symptoms during school will be sent home and get tested
If you have a student showing symptoms, call x1491 or x1010 and we will get the student to the Health Center for evaluation
□ Different rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated students who have close contact with someone with COVID

COVID TESTING & VACCINATION UPDATE
As you are aware, all DOE employees are required to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September 27. Employees should use the DOE Vaccination Portal to upload proof of vaccination.
In the interim, between September 13 and September 27, all DOE employees, as well as DOE/City contractors in DOE buildings, are required to provide proof of having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, or weekly proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR diagnostic test (rapid or non-rapid).
Testing From 9/13 to 9/27
For each week of the interim period (September 13-27), if you have not provided proof that you have received at least one vaccine dose, you must submit proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test (rapid or non-rapid) by the end of each week: 9/19 and 9/26). For a week in which COVID-19 testing is available in your school/office, you will be able to get tested on-site. For the week in which such testing is not taking place in your school/office, in order to be tested, you are eligible for up to one hour of additional pay or leave (for staff with annual leave) in order to be tested outside of work hours (not release time).
All staff can get tested for free at City sites. More information is available on the NYC Health and Hospitals website.
Reporting Test Results
Use the DOE Vaccination Portal to upload your proof of vaccination or COVID-19 PCR test results. More information about the Vaccination Portal is available on the InfoHub.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COVID-19 VACCINATION MANDATE RELATED EXEMPTION OR ACCOMMODATION APPLICATION
DOE staff members may now apply in SOLAS for a COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate Related Exemption or Accommodation.
This COVID-19 Vaccine Related Exemption and Accommodation application is for:
Religious Exemption requests to the mandatory vaccination policy
Medical Exemption requests to the mandatory vaccination policy
Medical Accommodation requests where an employee is vaccinated but is unable to mount an immune response to COVID-19 due to preexisting immune conditions.
Applications should be made via the following process:
Applications must be made using the Self-Service Online Leave Application System (SOLAS).
In SOLAS, employees should select the initial option to "Request Accommodation" and then the option to apply for an Exemption and Accommodation for COVID Vaccine-Related Reasons, and then indicate the category for the application.
All applications require supporting documentation which must be submitted at the time of application.
More information can be found on the Coronavirus Staff Update InfoHub page.

COLLEGE INFORMATION FOR CLASSROOM & OFFICE BANNERS
In an effort to get our students college focused, we have our college banners placed outside of our classrooms and offices – we also have a bulletin board outside of Room 127 that lists all the colleges that are represented by our staff.
If you are a new staff member or are a returning staff member that needs an updated banner, please fill out this Google Form that will go to Ms. Kate McKeon, our amazing college counselor – she is Room 729 if you want to stop by and say hello.
