NYC DOE STUDENT PROFILES
The NYC Department of Education has created a central location to access key student information – www.nycenet.edu/studentprofile
You have been emailed a one page summary of this resource.  Here are the key categories of the ‘Student Profile’:
Grades – current and historical report card grades
Assessments - previous Regents scores
Attendance - current and historical daily attendance including lateness
Schedule – students’ current schedule
Details – student biographical and demographic information including Special Education and English Language Learner (ELL) status
Enrollment – enrollment history including all NYC schools attended
Guardians – all the adults on the students’ biographical record including contact information and preferred language

Thank you to our new staff - MS. HUSTED, MS. GARCIA, MS. SCHLEIN, MR. MATELUS, MS. BATTS, MS. MAYER, MS. MUMMAW, MS. KONO, MS. FARRAGHER, MR. McDONALD & MS. McGUINNESS for working so hard to get acclimated to their new surroundings.

Thank you to MR. LAZARUS & MR. TALLONE for all their efforts in programming the new referral form that makes it so much easier for HSFI staff to alert the school about individual student struggles.

Thank you to MS. LOOSER & MS. INCE for their efforts during the summer in looking over special education student IEPs and facilitating the necessary changes as they transition to high school.

Thank you to MS. McKEON for her work with our college Youth Leaders over the summer to make sure they are ready to support their classmates through the college application and financial aid process.

Thank you to MS. WEISS & MS. SAN JORGE for all their work with our college Bridge Coaches during the summer – these coaches, who are all HSFI alumni, supported HSFI graduates from last June and the summer as they transitioned into college this Fall.

Thank you to all the staff involved in our Writing Revolution efforts including MS. ABRAMYAN, MS. BAILEY, MS. CONAGHAN, MS. CUFFIE, MS. DRABMAN, MR. EGAN, MS. EISENBERG, MS. CHRISTINA VEGA, MS. McGOLDRICK, MS. RUSSELL, MS. SEVERINO-NORTMAN, MS. FERLAZZO-JACKSON, MS. SHARON MEDINA, MS. HUSTED & MR. RODRIGUES  who attended a WR workshop a week before school began.  Thank you to MS. MOORE for supervising these efforts.

Thank you to MS. McGOLDRICK, MS. THOMAS & MS. RUSSELL for helping out at the HSFI Welcome Squad orientation!

Thank you to the English Focus Group leaders - MS. BOHNER, MS. CUFFIE, MS. McGOLDRICK & MR. KEARNS for preparing rigorous and creative opening lessons for all the English classes.

Thank you to MS. SONIA MEDINA for helping a new student navigate the school who was having trouble.

Thank you to MS. CHAVEZ for her constant professional and support in the Main Office as well as coming into school a week prior to opening to run orientation session and tours to over 250 new students.

Thank you to MS. JOSEPH, MS. MAPP, MS. SONIA MEDINA & MS. VELEZ for assisting with metro cards and other important items to guarantee a smooth school opening.

Thank you to MS. HUSTED for stepping up to assume the role of Transition Coordinator for our special education students.

Thank you to MR. KILPATRICK for all of his work over the summer preparing for the Advanced Placement Computer Science class.

Thank you to MS. RICCI for stepping up to take over the position of Fashion Design Department Coordinator while a colleague is out.

Thank you to MS. VACCARO, MS. MEDINA & MS. CHIN for getting our FLY school store ready for business – our students can now purchase items online which has been a HUGE hit with our parents.

Thank you to MR. EGAN for all the effort in having the Fashion Soarrs website operational for the beginning of the school year.

Thank you to MS. KLEPACKI for her passionate Attendance presentation at our opening meeting and all her efforts in making these protocols run smoothly – now it’s our job to not disappoint her.

Thank you to MS. PADRON, MS. VONGERICHTEN & MS. NAGHI for being the driving force behind the Fashion Empowers Committee.

Thank you to MS. STAMBOULY, MS. PARISSE, MS. CONAGHAN & MS. PADRON for their work in organizing the Social-Emotional Intelligence action plan with Yale University and attending the summer conference in New Haven.

Thank you to our PSAL Coaches - MS. MATINALE & MR. ALVAREZ for running opening meetings in their respective sports to get students going with these teams.  We should be very excited about HSFI getting a Girls’ Soccer team in our history.

Thank you to MS. FRANK for her programming efforts during the summer to insure a smooth opening of classes.



VTODs FOR THE WEEK – COLLEGE TERMS

Tuesday, September 13                                                                                                                   
Elective: (n) a course that a student may select from among alternatives.  In addition to their required courses, the marketing majors could choose electives in related fields.
Wednesday, September 14                                                                                                                      Syllabus: (n) an outline or summary of topics that will be studied in a course. The syllabus for our course in American literature focused on twentieth century writers.
Thursday, September 15
Accredit: (v) to certify that a college or university has met the necessary requirements to be approved by the proper authority.  The Department of Education maintains a database of postsecondary institutions that have been accredited.
Friday, September 16
FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid: (n) A free form that must be completed by all those who wish to be considered for federal and many forms of state financial aid
