CALL TO ACTION

Every week, I will share with you a ‘Call To Action’ around our school goals that will help drive our work for that week.

HSFI ‘CARED FOR’ GOAL – RELATIONSHIPS & REALNESS

CONTINUED CHALLENGE OF TRANSITIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS

Transitions are tough for everyone - they are tough for us and definitely for our students - we have another transition approaching with the end of the school year.  Students are worried about graduation, failing classes, going to summer school and taking standardized Regents tests for the first time in years.  There are only two days of classes left, but please look for changes in your students and let one of our mental health professionals know if you see a child in distress.

HSFI ‘CHALLENGED’ GOAL – RIGOR & RELEVANCE

TWO DAYS LEFT IN THE THIRD & FINAL MARKING PERIOD OF THE SPRING TERM

We have two days left in the third and final marking period of the Spring term continues - please make sure students know where they stand in their classes and know what is required for them to receive the grades that they would like to receive.

NEW ITEMS:

IMPORTANT REGENTS REMINDERS

□ Please follow the testing guidelines outlined by Mr. Egan during this past Thursday’s presentation - this presentation includes all the information you need to know about testing including exam proctoring - here is the link to the presentation:

Testing Office Presentation RE: Exam Proctoring - 2022-06-09

Here are some important reminders for Testing:

□ These are high-stakes exams for students that impact graduation, promotion, their mental health - we need to proctor them in that way

□ Be active proctors - know how all your students are doing in your testing room - do not allow students to “drown” over one exam question or section

□ Do not let any students take an exam with electronic equipment on them

□ Be on time to your assignments

□ The following classrooms will be used for Regents Exams, and need to be made "Test Ready".  This includes putting desks into rows and either covering or removing all material that could be useful for any exam.

STAFF ATTENDING 2022 GRADUATION

Graduation is at Maimonides Park, 1904 Surf Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11224, ceremony starting at 5:00pm on June 27th.

If you wish to attend graduation, your work day will start at the stadium at 3:30 pm.  If you sign up to attend graduation you will be assigned to help out that day (it is a work day).   The number of staff allowed to attend graduation is contingent on the amount of staff needed to cover the school needs in the building. The school must be covered with staff since it is an attendance day for students.

If you decide not to attend graduation, you will come to school on your normal work schedule.  Meaning if you are 1-8, you start at 8:05 and if you 2-9, you start at 8:55.

If you sign up to attend graduation and don't show up, you will be marked absent.  Your attendance will be taken at the stadium.

You do have the option of working at the school during the day and then attending graduation.

Please complete the form below:

ENTERING FINAL GRADES FOR SPRING 2022 SEMESTER

Marking Period 3 ends on Friday June 10th and grades are due Wednesday June 15th, 2022 by 4PM. Grades are entered via STARS Classroom. Be sure to enter grades under Marking Period 3. Check that you have access to all of your classes in STARS classroom in advance of the grades due date.

After June 15th, teachers can update student grades only if that change results in a higher grade. No passing marks can be changed to a failing mark after June 15th to ensure adequate notice of non-graduating seniors and programming for summer school. To change a student’s grade, email programming.office@hsfi.us and cc the student’s counselor with the student name and updated grade.

Here is the memo outlining this process:
