– FIRST ‘FIRST MONDAY’
Just a reminder that we are on a
First Monday schedule this coming Monday, October 5. The reporting time for all staff, regardless
of whether you are on early or late schedule, is 8:25 am. The day is a
normal 9 period day – the only difference is the timing. Everyone will be meeting in departments from
2:30 pm - 3:15 pm – we will NOT be meeting in Professional Learning
Communities. Following the department
meetings, the New HSFI Staff group will be meeting in Room 821 from 3:15 pm –
4:00 pm.
#2
– COLLEGE T-SHIRT DAY THIS FRIDAY
Our annual College T-shirt Day is
this Friday, October 9 – there is time to look through your closets for your
shirt as well as time to do a rush delivery. I hope we have amazing
participation so our students can be exposed to as many schools as possible.
#3
– SAVE THE DATE – OFFICIAL FALCON HEALTH CENTER OPENING
We will officially open the
Falcon Health Center on October 22 with elected officials and key members of

– Launch of New FashionSoarrs Website /
Video Tutorials
The newly redesigned FashionSoarrs.com is in full operation – the link is the same - fashionsoarrs.com
THANK YOU to Mr. Egan
for all his efforts in putting this website together and THANK YOU to Ms.
ArcaMay for her help with the graphic support.
The new FashionSOARRs site will require all students, staff, and
teachers to log in using their HSFI.us accounts. Your FashionSOARRs
account is now connected to your HSFI.us email address, so you do not have to
remember another set of user information. If you do not know your HSFI.us
login information, please come up to 819 and let us know.
Mr. Egan has also
created two ‘How To’ videos and plans on creating a couple more (again use
Google Chrome for best viewing):
Video #1: How to Log
In (For All Users Students/Teachers/Staff)
Video #2: How to
Add/Drop Students (For Teachers Only)
Video #2 is
especially important for all teachers/co-teachers of ICT classes because none
of the ICT classes have class lists in FashionSOARRs because of how they are
programmed. Video #2 explains how these students can be added.
District 75 students are also confirmed working as seen in video.
#5 – FINAL CALL ON CLUBS
If
you are interested in supervising a club after school and have not filled out
the appropriate paperwork, please email Rachel Bernstein at rbernstein10@schools.nyc.gov.
by the end of the day on Monday, October 5th. If you are an advisor of
an existing club, and haven't filled out your paperwork, please make sure
to see Jenelle Vasconcellos in 829 by Monday as well.
The
club fair will be the week of October 12th so we need to finalize this list
ASAP. Any requests submitted after October 5th will be considered only
for next semester.

ScriptEd to equip students with the fundamental coding skills that will
ultimately create access to careers in technology. ScriptEd is a year-long
computer programming class that teaches students the fundamentals of web
development including HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Students will also learn skills used in the technology industry, like
how to use a version control system and how to collaborate with teammates on
code. In addition, students will also go on field trips to technology firms,
and participate in hackathons. Students who demonstrate the most commitment in
the class will be eligible for paid internships at technology companies during
the summer break.
